Tech Companies (SaaS, AI & Platforms)

Accessibility as a competitive advantage for B2B and B2C digital products.

EAA 2025
AI Act
WCAG 2.2
Section 508

Why do tech companies need accessibility?

The technology sector is, paradoxically, one that generates the most accessibility barriers. SaaS platforms, analytics dashboards, and AI systems are usually designed prioritizing functionality over inclusion, creating complex interfaces that exclude users with disabilities.

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) requires digital products and services marketed in the EU to be accessible. For SaaS companies, this means their platforms, admin panels, onboarding processes, and documentation must comply with WCAG 2.2 AA. If they also sell in the US, Section 508 and the ADA add similar requirements.

The European AI Act introduces an additional layer: high-risk AI systems must guarantee transparency, non-discrimination, and effective human oversight, which implies accessible interfaces for operators. TWA is the specialized consultancy that understands both the regulations and the technical reality of digital products.

Digital products

What must be accessible?

SaaS Platform

Main product interface: workspace, navigation, CRUD actions, and user flows. Must be keyboard-operable and assistive technology-compatible.

Workspace Main navigation CRUD actions

Admin Panel

Backoffice for user management, configuration, and permissions. Admins with disabilities must be able to operate the panel with the same autonomy.

User management Configuration Roles and permissions

Documentation & API Docs

Technical documentation, integration guides, and API reference. Must be navigable, with accessible copyable code and correct semantic structure.

API Reference Integration guides Changelogs

User Onboarding

Registration, initial configuration, interactive tutorials, and first steps flows. Onboarding is the first impression and must be inclusive.

Registration Setup wizard Tooltips and tutorials

Dashboards & Analytics

Panels with charts, metrics, and data visualizations. Must offer text alternatives, data tables, and be screen reader-navigable.

Accessible charts Data tables Filters and export

Notification Systems

Alerts, toasts, transactional emails, and push notifications. Must be perceivable through all sensory channels and keyboard-manageable.

In-app alerts Transactional emails Push notifications

Third-Party Integrations

Embeddable widgets, iframes, SDKs, and components that integrate into other products. Accessibility must be maintained in the integration context.

Embeddable widgets SDKs UI components

Design System & Component Library

Reusable UI component library that must include accessibility guidelines, ARIA roles and accessible usage examples for all developers.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know

Yes. The EAA applies to digital services marketed in the EU, regardless of whether the end customer is a consumer (B2C) or a company (B2B). If your SaaS platform is sold or used in European territory, it must meet accessibility requirements.
The AI Act requires high-risk AI systems to have effective, transparent, and comprehensible human oversight interfaces. This implies that monitoring dashboards, control panels, and explainability interfaces must be accessible for operators with disabilities.
Yes. If you sell your SaaS product to the US federal government, you must comply with Section 508. Additionally, the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) has been judicially interpreted as applicable to digital services, meaning private companies can also face lawsuits for inaccessibility.
Charts must have text alternatives (data tables, descriptions), be keyboard-navigable, and offer information not solely dependent on color. We audit the perception, operability, and comprehension of each visual component, proposing accessible design patterns like textured charts, direct labels, and data export.
With tools like We All Compliance, you can automate accessibility tests on each deployment, blocking merges that introduce regressions. We complement automation with periodic manual audits to cover aspects automated tools cannot detect (57% of WCAG criteria require human review).
