Tech Companies (SaaS, AI & Platforms)
Accessibility as a competitive advantage for B2B and B2C digital products.
Technology companies develop products used by millions of people daily. If a SaaS platform, dashboard, or notification system is not accessible, a significant percentage of users is excluded and the door to regulated markets like the EU (EAA) and the US (Section 508) is closed. Additionally, the new European AI Act introduces transparency and non-discrimination requirements directly affecting AI-based products. At TWA, we help tech companies design, audit, and certify the accessibility of their products from the design phase to API documentation, turning regulatory compliance into commercial differentiation.
Why do tech companies need accessibility?
The technology sector is, paradoxically, one that generates the most accessibility barriers. SaaS platforms, analytics dashboards, and AI systems are usually designed prioritizing functionality over inclusion, creating complex interfaces that exclude users with disabilities.
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) requires digital products and services marketed in the EU to be accessible. For SaaS companies, this means their platforms, admin panels, onboarding processes, and documentation must comply with WCAG 2.2 AA. If they also sell in the US, Section 508 and the ADA add similar requirements.
The European AI Act introduces an additional layer: high-risk AI systems must guarantee transparency, non-discrimination, and effective human oversight, which implies accessible interfaces for operators. TWA is the specialized consultancy that understands both the regulations and the technical reality of digital products.
Applicable regulations
European Accessibility Act (EAA)
Requires digital products and services marketed in the EU, including SaaS platforms and e-commerce services, to be accessible.
AI Act (EU AI Regulation)
If your product uses artificial intelligence, the AI Act requires transparency, human oversight, and non-discrimination. Oversight interfaces must be accessible.
WCAG 2.2 (Level AA)
Technical reference standard for all digital interfaces: dashboards, forms, interactive documentation, UI components, and user flows.
Section 508 (USA)
If you sell your SaaS product to the US federal government or companies contracting with it, you must comply with Section 508, which references WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA.
What must be accessible?
SaaS Platform
Main product interface: workspace, navigation, CRUD actions, and user flows. Must be keyboard-operable and assistive technology-compatible.
Admin Panel
Backoffice for user management, configuration, and permissions. Admins with disabilities must be able to operate the panel with the same autonomy.
Documentation & API Docs
Technical documentation, integration guides, and API reference. Must be navigable, with accessible copyable code and correct semantic structure.
User Onboarding
Registration, initial configuration, interactive tutorials, and first steps flows. Onboarding is the first impression and must be inclusive.
Dashboards & Analytics
Panels with charts, metrics, and data visualizations. Must offer text alternatives, data tables, and be screen reader-navigable.
Notification Systems
Alerts, toasts, transactional emails, and push notifications. Must be perceivable through all sensory channels and keyboard-manageable.
Third-Party Integrations
Embeddable widgets, iframes, SDKs, and components that integrate into other products. Accessibility must be maintained in the integration context.
Design System & Component Library
Reusable UI component library that must include accessibility guidelines, ARIA roles and accessible usage examples for all developers.
Landing Pages & Marketing
Acquisition pages, demos and digital marketing materials that must comply with WCAG to avoid excluding potential customers with disabilities.
Product Accessibility Audit
Complete technical evaluation of your SaaS platform per WCAG 2.2 AA. Reports oriented to product and development teams with user impact prioritization.
Strategic Accessibility Consulting
Accessibility integration into your development cycle: design system, automated testing, acceptance criteria, and training for product, design, and development teams.
Inclusive AI Audit
Evaluation of your product's AI components: algorithmic bias, decision transparency, human oversight interfaces, and AI Act compliance.
Document Accessibility
Remediation of technical documentation, API docs, changelogs, and onboarding materials in accessible formats (PDF/UA, HTML) for all platform users.
Tools we implement
We All Compliance
Continuous accessibility monitoring integrable into your CI/CD pipeline. Detects regressions on each deployment and generates compliance reports for external audits.
Accessible AI Assistants
Design and implementation of accessible chatbots and virtual assistants for your platform: screen reader-compatible, keyboard-operable, and with structured responses.
We All TXT - Accessible Documentation
Tool for generating technical and user documentation in accessible formats: PDF/UA, semantic HTML, and EPUB. Ideal for API docs, manuals, and changelogs.
Digital products
accessible by design.
